While introducing students in their first steps of programming it's of vital importance learning the implications of it the code they make. We run in parallel with both technical and ethical disourse. The maxim's of ALT's Free Software Tools policy are:
Facilitators promote and mediate the use of FS
They are users and support the implementation of Free Software Movement.
Educative mediation tools
As much as possible use of FS for the development process of the class. Where there isn't invent it.
Provide students the necessary knowledge and tools to emancipate their tech from proprietary software.
Classes must be assisted with Free Software Tools and facilitators should be capable to transmit the necessary explanations, awareness and motivations for its implementation, spread and development.
Using the “share” platform in ALT-Wall. Hosted in ALT's own server with open source software. Used for the exchange of materials between the different participants of the different projects.
