Self-grading

The purpose of self-grading is to provide students with a participatory means to obtain the grades that the Ministry of education requires of every educational institution. But achieving so without the intervention of the central authority of the teacher, the department coordinator or the institution itself, while still complying with the Dutch Ministry of Education.

Self-grading will hopefully engage the ALT participants in discussions about authority, competition in education, the value of grading itself, how grading system function in different countries and their incompatibilities.

Suggested implementations

  • We suggest to implement Self-grading through Horizontal Assembly.
  • If the course has a teacher or facilitator this person must sign the grades arrived at by assambleary decision without amendments.
